SSHS Students Qualify for State Festival

Sugar-Salem High School string musicians are headed to Post Falls to participate in the State Solo and Small Ensemble Festival on May 5 and 6. Students qualified by earning superior ratings in their performances of state qualifying selections in the District VI Solo and Small Ensemble Festival held March 20 at South Fremont high school. The following students will be participating:

String Quartet – Hannah Miller – violin, Holly Wise – violin, Rachel Baggett,- viola and Lillian Barrus – cello

Cello Quartet – Sevanna Baird, Kaleb Maughan, Jeremiah Daybell, and Grant Coleman

Violin Solo – Logan Weaver and piano accompanist Teiya Green.

Emma Christian, a soprano, will be competing in the vocal division.

“These students are impressive in their musicianship and their work ethic. It has been a pleasure to help them prepare for this event” says Jennifer Lee Barrus, orchestra director at the Sugar-Salem high school. “We are looking forward to the State Solo and Small Ensemble festival in Post Falls.”
