Additional Information: Mr. Jenks and Mr. Miller will be here to provide further information about the state of the HS Track and what they are doing about the situation. Here is some information: We have been discussing with Russ Michaelson a plan to generate $100,00.00 to resurface the track and put up new scoreboards for the Football,Softball, and Baseball fields. We intend to sell advertising that would be hung on the scoreboard. The track is in desperate need of resurfacing. The estimated cost is $80,000.00 to resurface the track. The cost of the scoreboard with twenty advertising signs is $60,000.00. The cost of the two scoreboards for the softball and baseball fields will be $6,200.00. The current scoreboards for the baseball and softball fields are not repairable. We are proposing that we generate $100,000.00 through fundraising, the high school and activities contributes $10,000.00, and the remaining $35,000.00 be borrowed but returned to the district through the 8 in 6 program. Last year, the 8 in 6 program generated $20,000.00. This year, I anticipate the 8 in 6 program will generate $30,000.00 or more. The track is an example of things that we should strive to work together on to establish a plan about how to resurface it every ten years. The track has not been resurfaces since it was installed. The track was installed twenty years ago or more. Thanks for your consideration. Jared Jenks and Jay Miller

Additional Information: We are experiencing a very difficult time in getting substitute teachers to come to our district. There has been a suggestion that we increase the daily rate for substitute teachers. Below is what some other districts are paying and attached is a spreadsheet with detailed information about our substitute pay, numbers of substitutes hired this year, up to this point, etc. 1. Snake River pays $75/day for subs for teachers and special ed aides - they pay $80/day for days 6-10 and they pay $87/day for day 11 and beyond. 2. Ririe pays their subs at $7.85/hour - the subs work from 8:15 am - 3:30 pm - they work with students during the lunch period and they do copying or other work for teachers or do playgound duty during the teacher's prep period. 3. Butte County pays $8/hour for a sub with no degree, $8.25/hour for a sub with a bachelor's degree or higher. Their long-term rate is $8.75/hour without a degree and $9.00/hour for long-term with a bachelor's degree. 4. Firth pays $55/day for all subs. After 10 days they receive an additional $15/day for non-certified subs and a certified sub goes to the base teacher's rate. 5. Madison pays $50/day for someone with an associates degree or less education, $55/day for a 4 year college degree, and $60/day for an individual who is certified. For extended subs for a teacher who is on extended leave, we pay $76/day for 20-49 days & $105/day for 50 days or more. 6. Mackay pays $8.67 an hour, for someone with 36 credits $9.71 and for long term which starts on their 11th consecutive day $10.88.

Additional Information: We need a classroom set of desks and chairs for the upcoming 2016-17 school to accommodate the additional 4th grade classroom. The cost of 25 desks and chairs will be $3,750 ($100/desk and $50/chair x 25 students = $3,750). Money needs to be allocated for this purchase now in preparation for next school year. Mr. Dunn recommends we take this from unallocated levy funds.

Additional Information: HIGH SCHOOL CIRCULATION PUMP LEAK REPAIR As we discussed last week at the board meeting, there is a leak in the no. 2 circulation pump at the high school, I have spoken with Ready Services, who has been working on our boiler system. They said to repair it they would have to drain out the water system to replace the seals and bearings in the two pumps. His recommendation is to fix both pumps while they have the system evacuated, because it has been over 25 years in service, We also need to replace the expansion joints. These are rubber bladders which take up the movement and vibration of the pumps. The rubber is getting old and cracked and if one of these start leaking it can create a flood very quickly. We also talked about putting insulators in. Insulators are valves that allow shutting off parts of the system so you don’t have to evacuate the whole thing in the event of a leak in one of the pumps. If we get everything repaired the cost would be around $20, 000, if we just do the bearings seals and expansion joints, it would be around $10,000-$15,000. I suggest we just do the bearings, seals and Expansion joints. Thanks let me know what you decide. Tony Rothwell, Maintenance Supervisor
