Additional Information: HIGH SCHOOL CIRCULATION PUMP LEAK REPAIR As we discussed last week at the board meeting, there is a leak in the no. 2 circulation pump at the high school, I have spoken with Ready Services, who has been working on our boiler system. They said to repair it they would have to drain out the water system to replace the seals and bearings in the two pumps. His recommendation is to fix both pumps while they have the system evacuated, because it has been over 25 years in service, We also need to replace the expansion joints. These are rubber bladders which take up the movement and vibration of the pumps. The rubber is getting old and cracked and if one of these start leaking it can create a flood very quickly. We also talked about putting insulators in. Insulators are valves that allow shutting off parts of the system so you don’t have to evacuate the whole thing in the event of a leak in one of the pumps. If we get everything repaired the cost would be around $20, 000, if we just do the bearings seals and expansion joints, it would be around $10,000-$15,000. I suggest we just do the bearings, seals and Expansion joints. Thanks let me know what you decide. Tony Rothwell, Maintenance Supervisor
